Amazon Web Services, Inc(AWS) andRed Hat, a provider of open-source enterprise solutions, have announced the availability of Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA), a new managed service that enables Red Hat OpenShift customers to build and manage containerized applications through the AWS
Console.
With ROSA, users can employ the Red Hat OpenShift console, features, and tooling to simplify Kubernetes cluster creation without needing to manually manage the underlying infrastructure. ROSA streamlines moving on-premises Red Hat OpenShift workloads to AWS and offers a close integration with other AWS services. The service also enables a single-vendor experience by incorporating support and billing directly through AWS.
There are no up-front investments required to use ROSA, and customers pay only for the container clusters and nodes used. ROSA also maintains security compliance validations including SOC-2, ISO-27001 and PCI.
Containers are gaining traction with AWS and Red Hat customers because they increase the speed of development and improve application portability. AWS offers a range of containers technology in the cloud, including Amazon Elastic Containers Service and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service. Additionally, AWS Fargate can run containers without having to manage the underlying servers or clusters.
